Posting videos on Instagram
Sharing to Instagram takes a little more work than to Facebook or other web-based social network. This help article is here to help you navigate this!
Download the video to your phone
Once you have downloaded your video to your computer, the next step is to transfer it to your phone.
There are a number number of great ways to do this. Here are a few options for you to consider.
- Upload the video to Dropbox or Google Drive, then open the Dropbox or Google Drive on your phone. Save the video to your camera role or photos application.
- If you have a Mac and an iPhone, use AirDrop to transfer the video to your iPhone.
- Use WhatsApp, iMessage, Facebook Messenger, or another messaging app to send the video to yourself so you can open it on your phone.
- Email the video to yourself (if it's not too big).
Posting to Instagram Stories
You can post videos in your camera roll to Instagram Stories. Instagram Stories can only be 15 seconds long, but if you have a longer video, Instagram will help you split it into separate 15 second segments.
Posting to Instagram Feed
Make sure your video is 60 seconds or less, otherwise Instagram will make you trim it!
Third-party scheduling tools
There are a number of social media scheduling tools that make it easier to share to Instagram. Many can share directly to the Instagram feed, though there is still some manual work required to share to an Instagram Story.
