How to clone your own voice
Voice cloning allows you to create a custom AI voice from an audio sample. Once created, your cloned voice can be used like any other AI voice in Lumen5 for video voiceovers.
Before You Start
Make sure you have the following:
- A paid plan that includes voice cloning. See here for our pricing plan.
- An audio sample (upload a file or record directly in Lumen5)
- At least 10 seconds of audio (1–2 minutes recommended)
Clone Your Voice
In the select an AI voice modal, there's a link to Add your own AI voice.

You have two options to provide an audio sample.

Option A: Upload an existing audio file
Drag or upload your file from your computer.

Option B: Record your audio sample
You can use the provided script in the prompter or your own script. Click on start recording to record yourself reading the script.

After uploading or recording, you can preview the cloned voice and click Save voice. Your cloned voice will now appear in the AI voice modal and can be used in any project.

Tips for Best Results
For detailed guidance, see our Voice Cloning Best Practices guide.
- Record in a quiet environment. Background noise can reduce quality
- Use a good microphone. External or headset mics perform better than built-in ones
- Record 1–2 minutes of audio for optimal results
- Avoid recording more than 3 minutes. Longer audio does not improve quality and may reduce accuracy
- Keep your delivery consistent. Steady tone, pace, and volume produce better clones
- Avoid reverb and echo. Use a controlled space when possible
- Speak naturally. Don’t exaggerate or perform
Manage Your Cloned Voices
- Each plan has a limit on how many voices you can create
- You can edit the name and other fields like language and tone at any time
- You can delete a voice to free up a slot
