By default, the colors in your video will reflect the default color palette from the template that you've selected. On the Starter plan and above, you can pick your own!
When choosing colors, select an existing color palette as a starting point and then click on individual colors to edit them. You can enter the hex code of your desired color or play around with the colour gradient sliders to find the perfect shade. Changing any of the colors in the Style tab will change every instance of that color in the video.
Once you're happy with your color palette, there are a few ways to change how colors are applied in your scenes.
Changing the text or highlight color:
If you like your background colors but you want your text or highlight to be a different color, you can do that! First, click on your text to edit it. Then, click either the text or highlight color editor in the menu that appears at the top.
The menu will show you which color is currently applied to your text and give you the option to change it. Below the current text color, you'll see the colors from your color palette in the Style tab listed, along with a button to add a whole new color.
Clicking on any of the colors from the list will apply it to your text:
To change your text to a color that's not currently in your palette, click on the new color button! You'll see a menu that allows you to drag and drop the gradients to find the perfect shade, or input a HEX, RGB, or HSL value to perfectly match your brand colors. Clicking on the HEX, RGB, or HSL label in this menu will toggle it to one or the other.
The last thing you'll see in the color selector is a small dropper icon. Clicking on that lets you easily identify the color of anything on your current screen and apply it to your text! This makes it easy to match an image, your logo, an icon or any other visual element, even if you don't know the precise color code.
When you click on the dropper icon, your mouse will turn into a larger circle that displays the color being detected based on where your mouse is. It kind of looks like a magnifying glass! Move that circle to the element whose color you want to copy, and make sure it looks right and fills the entire circle. Once you've found the right shade, just click to apply it to your text! Watch that happen here:
Changing colors by using the shuffle button:
If you're happy with how your scene looks but you want your text, highlight, and background to be a different color, the shuffle color button is your best bet! This is also a great option to add a little variety to your video just by shuffling which colors are applied to which elements. Just click on it and watch as your scene transforms:
Changing colors by changing the scene design:
Open the scene selector by clicking on Swap design:
Once the selector opens, you'll see several options for how your media and text are laid out, and different combinations of your color palette applied to the elements on the scene:
